using windows 8 and windows mail .. I find I have to forward my the received mail I get to my windows 8 laptop (windows Mail) - to my other PC using windows xp and outlook express 6 just to open the attachments..
is there a better way?
there does not seem to be a property's area in windows mail for me to uncheck a special box to get these attachments to open ...
This is one area of windows 8 that I very much disapprove of ......
have attached a jpeg to inspect what it is I an complaining about .. and this is for all attachments not just this one only .. . attachment is for demonstration purposes only ..thanks !

that the problem .. I have no programs or options to open ... I looked at the link you sent.. it states ( windows 8) click on start then all programs .. but no programs .. so am stymied on the second of 6 instructions ... If I could find programs like in windows xp I could right click start and go to explorer and then find the drive then find the program etc .. windows Mail has no options ..

windows mail cannot open attachments..
