Resolved [RESOLVED] Windows Update Not Working

I am running Windows XP Home SP3 so far fully up to date using Windows Update.

However, now in IE8, when I try to run Windows Update using http://update.microsoft.com/microsof....aspx?ln=en-us, I get the following error:-

The website has encountered a problem and cannot display the page you are trying to view. The options provided below might help you solve the problem.

    For self-help options:

    Frequently Asked Questions
    Find Solutions
    Windows Update Newsgroup

    For assisted support options:

Microsoft Online Assisted Support (no-cost for Windows Update issues)

When I try the option "Find Solutions" I get:-

HTTP Error 404 - File or directory not found.

Cannot find the page you are looking for. It might have been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable.

Any comments and help would be appreciated.

    Hi Steve

I know support for XP has ceased but I have MS Office 2007 installed and have been receiving security updates for it until now.

Extended support for Office 2007 ends on October 10, 2017, so you should still be able to get updates. However, you may have to go to Windows Update and get them manually.

Just to let you know, Windows Update has started to work again without using the link given by Welshjim

Downloaded and installed the following 2 updates:-
Security Update for Microsoft Office 2007 suites (KB2899526)
Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool - November 2014 (KB890830)

PinguJohn--Those are not Win XP updates. That is why you are still getting them.
