Windows Media Player
I have an HP Pavilion Laptop, DV6-6047cl, running Windows 7 - 64 bit. I was trying to install "Cyberlink PowerDirector 12" Trial Version & it asks me to update my Windows Media Player. I have not updated this since I bought the laptop. I do not want to do this if my system cannot support it. How do I find it if it can support this before installing it? Your input and comments would be appreciated.

Here is a link to the system requirements for Cyberlink PowerDirector 12:

Windows Media Player 9 or higher is required. Windows 7 shipped with Windows Media Player 12, so you should be OK already.

DarElls--
However, I find it often is fruitless to "argue" with a message like that. If you really want to download PowerDirector, uninstall your existing version of Media Player and install the latest from here even though it probably is the same as the version you just uninstalled.

I cannot find a version of Media Player to download. I know it came with Windows 7. Do I have to find it on the Windows 7 disk that came with my computer?

WMP12 should have been included in Win7. That's the latest.
You wouldn't find a standalone installer on the Windows 7 disc.
According to this, PowerDir 12 only requires WMP9 or higher. You don't need to "upgrade" WMP.

Try this link:

Also, is there an option to bypass the "upgrade" for Windows Media Player?

I'll be darned. MS is not making WMP 12 available for download.
You might find it on the Win7 disk or perhaps even already on your PC. I think the file you are looking for is setup_wm.exe .

I agree, but when trying to install the PowerDir 12 it stops every time stating: I need Media Player 9 & above. I know I have Media Player 12 on my computer. I would like to try this software, but if it gives me problems with installing it I probably will not buy it!

I think Power Director 13 is the latest. Maybe you should try that version instead.
