DVD Drive Constantly Opening and Closing

    Hi

I have a Dell Inspiron 620 and the DVD drive which is a DELL HL-DT-ST DVD+-RW GH70N keeps opening and closing constantly all day starting suddenly from yesterday night.

I have removed and reinstalled the drive from device manager
I have uninstalled and reinstalled the drive
    ...but no luck

I have tried disabling the drive in the BIOS but the only option is to disable the drive boot option.

Its driving my crazy because it has a outer flap and the drive and flap opens which is noisy.

Is there anything else i can do apart from opening the pc taking out the power cable to the drive ?

Did you push a paperclip into the eject hole to see if something is stuck?

It might just be a bad drive, though.

Did you take the drive out of the case or remove the case's front bezel? The case bezel could be blocking the eject hole.

Hmm. If that's the case, maybe the bezel is pushing on the eject button?

I'd replace it and forget about it. Newegg has several DVD burners for less than $20 delivered to your door. I don't even bother attempting repairs on optical drives anymore because they're so cheap to replace today.
