force uninstall "silverlight"
I deleted "silverlight" never having knowingly had use for itusingiobit uninstaller (usually very reliable). I now find that I do need it after all, but cannot reinstall, message--Corrupt file-- How do I force uninstall to get rid of all remnants so that I can do a clean reinstall: confused:

Use this unique uninstaller:
http://www.revouninstaller.com/revo_..._download.html
We use it all the time and it is good, free of any baddies too.

You say the message is that the Silverlight download you are trying to use is "corrupt". Try a new download of Silverlight.
Revouninstaller is great, but if you have already uninstalled Silverlight, it may not detect enough to uninstall what may be left.
If no help, try running SFC /SCANNOW from an elevated command prompt.

I have tried it (revo) with no success. I think it may be the Windows installer. I have also tried Winfix to no avail. Is there an alternative prog. to silverlight?

I think you meant to add some spaces in there. I don't trust any Iobit software after they stole from Malwarebytes.

As Welshjim said, if you already uninstalled Silverlight, Revo won't re-uninstall it.
Is there an alternative prog. to silverlight?
No. That is exclusively Microsoft.
Try this:

Thanks to welshjim, photolady and midknyte. I do confuse the spacebar wth "any key". I now know that an elevated command prompt is not made from an upstairs room. I will try your valuable suggestions and report back

alternatives to Silverlight

Silverlight is mostly for webpage developers. But every now and then you need it to see a site. The Beijing Olympics was one such.

thanks to you all. I finally traced it to a faulty "windows installer" as I suspected. (don`t ask me why) I used a small download from "Tweaking. com" I then used thier repair program and can reccommend it to you. I didn`t know about the Iobit Chinese connection and will use a different supplier next time around Thanks again to one and all. If you have no sense of humor you would be throwing laptops at the wall!!!

I'm guessing you mean this tool?

Ya, Iobit is sketchy. Revo is good (the one Photolady recommended). Another one is Geek Uninstaller. It's free, portable, and supports 32/64 bit apps.
