    Resolved [RESOLVED] Auto configuration

    Mine is XPSP3.

Since today,i am repeatedly getting the Display 'Automatic Configuration'

When it appears, the screen Brightness dims.

I had already tried with System Restore, but in vain.

What it is & how to stop it.

    Thanks.

That sounds more like a monitor issue. Did you try swapping monitors?

Try a different monitor. It sounds like the monitor is going bad.

Try disconnecting the monitor , plug and unplug the connector about 3 times. That tends to clean the contacts and is always a help.
Had a monitor I had to do that to once a year.

    Two things i did today.
Borrowed a Monitor & replaced it with the Existing one.
It really worked & 'Auto config' Box never appeared.

Next ,i cleaned the contacts of my Existing Monitor & Reconnected.
    Fantastic, the 'Auto config' vanished.

So the culprit was Monitor contacts.

Thanks a Ton to Midknyte & Train

    Small things work wonders.

Knowledge is Power & that is Virtualdr.

If problem arises again,i will post it here.

    Till then it is Resolved.
