Microsoft yanks KB 2949927
http://www.infoworld.com/article/283...b-2952664.html
TLDNR; Don't install KB2949927. If you already did, then you'll have to wait for further instructions. MS hasn't said anything about removal yet.
4 patches have been causing problems this month, but KB2949927 is the first to be yanked.

Midknyte--
Thanks.
I was aware of the earlier InfoWorld article about the problem installing KB2952664. As expected my Windows Update "View Update History" shows it as Failed with error 80242016. HOWEVER, it shows as Installed (on 10/15/2014) in Control Panel "View Installed Updates". I guess I should uninstall this Update and expect to be offered a new version per InfoWorld .
Concerning KB2949927, I show this as Installed in "View Installed Updates" and "View Update History". I guess I should just wait for more info from MS, though I have difficulty believing I really need it based on the subject.
KB3000061 and KB 2984972 show as Installed in "View Update History" and in "View Installed Updates".

I'd already installed it on my secondary computer/media server (and fortunately have not noticed any problems) but I'm glad I waited a bit longer to do it on my main rig and have now hidden it.
Thanks for the heads up.
I used to always wait a couple of days before installing most Windows updates but I have now extended that to a week just because of ridiculous stuff like this happening on a seemingly increased frequency.

Midknyte, I'm glad you keep up with these things. I found two in my not installed yet list and hid them. I sent the numbers/website to a friend and he had one installed but hid the others. So, thanks!!
Like fink, I don't install new updates right away. Usually wait about a week before installing, too.

So, this am, 11/12/14, I've got a load of new Win 7 updates waiting for me to install them. Any word on how many of them will break my computer?

Hmm. I don't see KB2949927 listed, unless it is one of the really long named ones.
Well, the next update Tuesday has come, so I'll unstick this thread.
