After reading this should I continue to buy Android Tablets?

There's Something Wrong In Android Land

Hmmm....according to this the Android is on its way out and I'm wondering what will happen to tablets that run 4.2+ androids?

I don't see why that article would make the consumer avoid buying Android tablets. That is a market analyst projection report. It doesn't say anything about hardware or software issues.

I don't see Android going away any time soon. Android still has the majority market share of smartphones.

Android dying? Not quite yet! THE reason the new iPhones are bigger is because sales were SUFFERING for Apple. I personally know several hard core iPhone users that switched to Samsung S5's within the last year. They were tired of Apple ignoring them. Beyond that, many of the "new" iPhone 6 features originated in Android (NFC, battery usage, etc.) Innovation, once a key Apple strong point, is mostly MIA without Jobs. I would even go so far to say that if Apple hadn't went 'big', they would be in serious financial trouble. Thankfully, Tim Cook was able to figure that much out! The upper end of Android is what is now driving innovation in the cellphone market. (The author totally ignores this fact.) Look at the LG 3. The HTC One. The Samsung Galaxy S5. (All contain features that Apple didn't come close to with the new 6 series.)

This all said, the one thing the author does get right. The low end Android market is very over saturated. This is the result of users of all income levels wanted their own smartphone. Android provides that. And the low end of the smartphone market is indeed ripe for competition from anyone. But due to this saturation, no one is ever going to make a dime. (One take away from this is that Android provided the means to let everyone own a smartphone. What if Apple had been the only smartphone maker??)

Saturation exists at all levels of the smartphone market. Low (especially so) and high! How many more truly new, first time smartphone buyers are there left? Sales growth will likely be incremental from this point forward. Why does the author believe Apple would survive the current situation any better than Android? Just because they ignore the low end market?

Bottom line, IMO, there are 2 distinct markets. What happens with one doesn't dictate what happens with the other!

IMO, a poorly written article by an Android/Google hater.

(I own and use both Apple and Android. I daily interact with products from both makers. When people ask me for which to buy, I recommend both depending on the situation. I have no one size fits all opinion because one size doesn't fit all.)

My first post dealt with Android's supposed problems. But you asked about tablets.

I've read that the tablet market is also saturated like phones. I tend to believe it. Most everyone in the tablet market has went out and bought one. Beyond this, how many true innovations have came to tablets recently? Not many. So, is it good or bad to buy one from either Android or Apple? I'd say it's a safe purchase from either one for at least a few years.

Tablets are handy. But they can't and don't replace laptops (except maybe the MS Surface Pro 3... which is very, very cool!)
