[RESOLVED] Replacing Failed USB 2.0 PCI Card
My USB 2.0 PCI card has failed.
Do I have to uninstall all the peripherals attached to this card before replacing with a new one and then install the peripherals again, or can I just replace the card and plug the peripherals into the new one with no problems.
I am running Windows XP Home SP3

It wouldn't be a bad idea to attempt to remove it from device manager.
If you're happy and you know it......it's your meds.

Steve, thanks for your reply.
The peripherals attached to the card are a printer and a scanner.
Do you mean remove the printer and scanner from device manager and then remove the USB 2.0 PCI card from device manager.
Then replace the USB 2.0 PCI card with a new one and then reinstall the printer and scanner.
I was hoping I could just replace the USB 2.0 PCI card and plug in the printer and scanner and everything would work OK.

No...you can leave the printer etc as is... You can but probably don't have to remove the old PCI card from device manager but it wouldn't hurt to try and uninstall it.

Just remove the defective one and replace it with a functional one of your choice. If it's not physically installed it won't appear in the device manager anyway.

Hi all
I promised to let you know how I got on when the new USB 2.0 PCI card arrived.
I removed the defective USB 2.0 PCI card and replaced it with the new one, plugged in the printer and scanner and switched on the computer.
Everything worked OK.
Thanks for your help.
