Resolved [RESOLVED] MS-Excel - Get Rid of MAILTO: in Cells???

I was running some calculation in MS-Excel and I accidentally typed this -

    +_e@/+e1

when it should have been this -

    +e2/+e1

Because the "@" was in there it took this as an email address. I corrected it, and reformatted the cells as Number, but the MAILTO: didn't go away.

I had copied and pasted that cell to 10 other cells, and now anytime I select any of them, my email program pops up.

I looked through the menus and couldn't find anything related to it.

How can a get rid of the MAILTO: aspect of these cells.

    My MS-Excel is an older version - MS-Excel 2000 (9.0.2720).

    Any help would be appreciated.

Sounds like you created a hyperlink with mailto.

If you post the full command in the cell, that would help. +_e@/+e1 doesn't really tell us the full picture.

    I don't have Excel 2000 anymore, but I don't think that's the problem.

Sorry, I was expecting an email when people responded but it never came.

Like I said, I originally typed this -

    +_e@/+e1

and Excel took the "@" sign as part of a email address.

What I meant to type was this -

    +e2/+e1

However, that was wrong. I mean the syntax is correct, but it should have been +F2/+F1. I corrected it to +F2/+F1, but the MAIL TO aspect remained. I though I would finish the calculation and worry about the MAIL TO later, so I copied that Cell to 10 other Cells.

The Spreadsheet is intended to determine the Relative Size of Speaker Drivers by treating them as Pistons.

So the first Column E is a list of speaker sizes 4", 5", 5.25", 6", 6.5", and so on up to 15".

Column F is the calculated Piston Area of the drivers.

Column F divides +F1, which is the piston area for a 4" speaker, by each of the successive Piston areas to come up with a relative number.

The final chart looks like this -

    4" ...... 12.57 ...... 1.00
    5" ...... 19.63 ...... 1.56
    5.25" .. 21.65 ...... 1.72
    6" ...... 28.27 ...... 2.25
    6.5" ... 33.18 ...... 2.64
    7" ...... 38.48 ...... 3.06
    8" ...... 50.27 ...... 4.00
    10" .... 78.54 ...... 6.25
    12" ...113.10 ...... 9.00
    15" ...176.71 ...... 14.06

So, using the Relative Numbers in the 3rd column we see that an 8" speakers is 4 times bigger than a 4" speaker. A 12" driver is 9 time larger than a 4" driver.

It is the last/3rd column that is messed up. Even though the 3rd column, the "G" column, is calculated using the "F" column, when I mouse over a bubble pops up that says "Mail to:+_e@/+e1.

However the "G" column formulas are

    +F2/+F1
    +F3/+F1
    +F4/+F1
    +F5/+F1
    .
    .
    .
    +F10/+F1

I'll check out some of the links to see if they can help me get rid of the Mail To: aspect.

Everything is calculated correctly, it is the Mail To: that is messing things up. If I select any one of the G Column numbers, my Email program instantly pops up.

Hopefully that will give you some more context.

Actually, this link worked even though what it does doesn't make sense. None the less I am not one to argue with success. But is seems like a really convoluted way to accomplish the task. None the less that task was accomplished.

Thanks for the links and the help, sorry it took me so long to respond.
