    Installing Vista

When I got this computer it came with XP installed but also with a Windows Vista disk. How do I determine the product code to do the install of Vista?

What kind of system is it? If you mean the systems in your signature AND the Vista disc is a DELL disc, then you shouldn't need a product key. The DELL disc will look for a DELL bios during installation.

Still, the Vista disc should have come with a product key.

Just in case, make a backup of your XP install first.

The disk is called Re-installation DVD Windows Vista Business 32bit sp1. And, yes it is from Dell.

And the system you are installing on is also a Dell?

You'll also need to download SP2 and install it after you finish installing Vista.

Well, I d/l Magical Jelly Bean and got the following:

Microsoft Windows XP Professional Service Pack 3
    Product Part No.: A22-00001
    Installed from 'OEM' media.
Product ID: 76487-OEM-0011903-00102 match to CD Key data
    CD Key: XJM6Q-BQ8HW-T6DFB-Y934T-YD4YT
    Computer Name: DHGY3VG1

Also on the CD it says the product id will be located on the computer chassis either on the side or the bottom, so there's that also.

Yes to the question it will be installed on the same Dell.

That's fine, but the XP key is different from the Vista key.

Like I mentioned, if it's a Dell disc on a Dell system, then it shouldn't prompt you for a key during installation.
