Resolved [RESOLVED] HP 5280 printer problem

3 computers on home network. All running win 7 ultimate.
Computer A is the main computer that has the printer hooked up to it.
Computer B is my wifes computer
    Computer C is work computer.

    A & B print fine. C will not print.

All are in same homegroup. I can transfer files between all 3 comps.
File and print sharing is enabled on all comps.
Printer shows up on C with a green tick showing it is default and ready to print.
If I bring up a document on C and hit print it shows that it is sending it to printer, but nothing happens.
The doc is not spooled anywhere (that I can see) like it has been printed.

I have tried plugging it in to a different usb port.
I have tried removing the printer on C and letting it "find" it again.
I have tried removing it from both A & C and setting it up again.

Computer A is a new computer that I have just set up.
After installation I deleted all old homegroups and set them all up on new homegroup.

I'm sure it's something simple but it has me stumped!!!

    TIA for any suggestions.

Have you tried removing the printer/driver from the problem computer, then following HP's instructions to set up the printer with a direct USB connection on the problem computer? If not, try that and see what happens. If it still won't print, let us know.

    Do you mean the C5280?

Did you try installing the printer with a shared network port?

It's not a "network" printer. It's a shared printer connected to the main computer. Not the router.

If you are connecting to it over the network, then it is a network printer. It just doesn't have the networking adapter built-in.

You could create a network port using the host name of the computer that is directly connected to the printer. See Step 5 in the link I posted. That's the non-homegroup way of connecting to network printers.

That is not what I meant. Once you have removed the printer/driver from the problem computer, physically move the printer to the problem PC and follow HP's instructions for installing it as a USB printer on the problem PC. If that works, then we know that the driver software and the USB port on the problem PC are not the problem, and the issues lies with networking. If it doesn't work, then the problem is with the printer drivers or print spooler services.

Sorry for the delay in replying but have been away for a few weeks.

I ended up reinstalling the HP software on the main computer (comp A) and now both of the other computers can access it no problem.

    Thanks for your help
