[RESOLVED] I the Win 7 "Copy to/Move to " usable in Win 8?
There is a copy to/move to hack available for Win 7 in a zip download. Will this work in Win 8?

If you mean adding Copy/Move to the context menu (right-click), then it works for both 7 and 8.

Midknyte answered my real question -- is there an option for adding this to Win 8? Thanks. But to answer the first question, I have no idea which hack I used. Some years ago using XP, I think, I had a zipped file that I DL'd that when unzipped expanded a "Copy to.reg" and a "Move to.reg" file. Clicking on each of these added this option to the context menu. Later, I moved to Win 7 Home Premium and found a similar zipped file that worked in Win 7. My brother has bought a Win 8 laptop and I wondered if the zipped reg files I had for 7 would work in 8. But Midknyte really gave me a site that has these reg files that he can DL. Many thanks to each of you for your assistance.

Why would that be called a "hack"? Is adding Copy-to and/or Move-to to Windows Explorer's Send-to menu considered "illegal"?

My most sincere apologies for my incorrect vernacular. I suppose sometime after the PowerToys of Win 95 were introduced I perceived that a change in the registry, such as these changes are, was called a "hack" and I have been using the term in that way since that time. It seems you perceive a hack to be an illegal change. Perhaps you are correct. I am not in any position to know whether you are or not. Thanks for posting the issue.

I suppose it depends on how one defines "hack". To me it means gaining access to a file, network, etc. illegally or without authorization. <-shrug->

@ Jerry38018
I knew what you were trying to say, but it's not really a "hack". Hack is a term that gets thrown around a lot these days.
Here's a good read/rant about that.
Please Stop Calling Everything a "Hack"
