Ok, back in my comfort zone completely. To get the stop and reload buttons working on the left side I just had to close FF and restart. Maybe because of the theme I chose to use. In any case all is pretty much back to a pre 29 look and feel. Until they release FF30 and we have to start over again LOL.

Cool. Yup. Some of the changes require a restart.

If you want to merge the stop and reload buttons, you need to put the stop button to the left of the reload button.

I prefer side by side. One new thing I do like is the percent of size increase/decrease shown between the zoom -/+ buttons so I can see which pages display too large or small and it makes it easier to very quickly revert to default/no zoom with one click.

    Mozilla has released FF29.0.1
    https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all/

Classic Theme Restorer (CTR) version 1.1.9 is still waiting for approval, but it has a lot of fixes including some compatibility issues with Classic Toolbar Buttons (CTB).

Note that you will have to redo your changes after installing v1.1.9.

CTB was updated to version 1.4.0

If those add-ons and such is giving you hassles, you can try the ESR versions of Firefox instead.
Midknyte has provided a link above.

Basically a Firefox with all security updates but without the annoying constant changes in features and appearance(s).
    Cheers.

What would happen now if I installed the latest ESR version on top of 29.x? Would it break the addons I recently added to make FF look like it's older self? Could I uninstall those addons and would FF then look like it's older self?

EDIT- Found this FAQ but it doesn't really answer the above questions.

The Classic Theme Restorer addon doesn't work on FF 24.5ESR, but Classic Toolbar Buttons does.

FF 24.5 ESR looks exactly like FF24 (because it is).

I will keep the ESR option in my pocket for the time being since I'm perfectly happy with the way FF appears and runs at the moment but will revisit this option next time FF developers throw another curve ball.

The next cutover version is FF31 ESR, but there will be FF24.x ESR overlap until FF33.

You can also use the portable version of FF to test addons.

Since the current Firefox ESR version is set to expire in about five months, October 14, 2014, some may want to start testing another browser: Pale Moon.
Precaution in case Mozilla Firefox keeps on changing/adding undesired features.
    Cheers.

Classic Theme Restorer v1.2.0 is available now. Please read the developer's notes if you are upgrading from v1.1.8:

    !!! IMPORTANT, if upgrading from v1.1.8 !!!

Version 1.1.9 introduced new item and toolbar ids requested by AMO Editors.
This means toolbar configuration gets reset and all CTR items are moved to their default location (like on first install).

Use customizing mode to move items to toolbars again.
    Affected by this change:
    - all buttons added by this add-on
    - both toolbars added by this add-on (add-on bar / additional toolbar)
    - all items added to add-on bar / additional toolbar

Please keep in mind: I had to change the ids.

There is also a mini FAQ on support forums thread for recurring questions.

Forecastfox: If Forecastfox refuses to appear after restart, try to delete "forecastfox.sqlite" from profile folder. It will then reappear inside CTRs status-bar item, if movable status-bar is enabled.

    !!! IMPORTANT, if upgrading from v1.1.8 !!!
