bios upgrade
hello group,
I am about to put together an old computer. Parts as follows: Asus P5GC-MX/1333 mobo, i945/ICH7R chipset, Intel Core 2 Extreme 2.93Ghz. 1066FSB processor, Visiontek B2 video.
The motherboard currently has an Intel Pentium E2140 Conroe processor with American Megatrends 0207 bios. I am upgrading the processor to the Core 2. The Asustek compatibility page lists the Core2 as ok since bios AMI 0205 so I should be good to go. My question is, would flashing my bios to the latest version(0413) get me anything considering the risk of flashing the bios?
Any wise thoughts?
By the way, since I last logged on I became Comptia certified.
Thanx.

Most likely, it would not have any advantages over what you have now.
I never update the BIOS, unless there is a particular need, like to get a newer cpu to be seen and run right. But as you stated, you are covered.

Luckily, unlike some companies, ASUS actually lists changes/improvements for their BIOS updates.
e.g. BIOS version 0410: Improve compatibility with some USB HDD
Cheers.
