Wireless Printer problem with Motorola SBG6580 modem
Hi everyone, hoping you can help stop me from pulling my hair out.
I have a HP Deskjet F4500 series All In One Wireless Printer.
I also have a Motorola SBG6580 Modem/Router about 2 months old
My problem is getting my printer to recognize my wireless modem.
Printer works via USB, no problems
I ran the HP setup disk and selected the USB to WIRELESS selection
When the list pops up showing all the networks available, all I see are my neighbors
wireless networks. My Motorola is not in the list.
I have tried to enter it manually and tried putting in the SSID name and I get the message "The SSID name you entered has not been found."
I have checked and double checked the spelling small and large caps are all correct.
Does anyone know why my modem is not seen in the HP software setup?
My modem is working fine with my INTERNET access and also my ipad works wireless
with no problem. It's just the printer that is driving me nuts. I'm thinking that I might have a setting in my modem that might be the problem but I hate messing with all the settings in there cause I'm not that knowledgeable in that area.
Running Windows 7
Have Time Warner for Internet service.
Bought my own wireless modem SBG6580 to save $7 monthly
Any help will be highly appreciated, and hopefully save what hair i have left.
Thanks
Spike

Is SSID Broadcast enabled on your router?
What types of networks do you have enabled on the router? I think the F4500 only supports up to 802.11g. Your router might be set to 802.11n only. You'd need to run it in "mixed mode" for both 802.11g and 802.11n.
What type of encryption are you using on the router? WEP, WPA, or WPA2?

Thanks for the reply, I messed with many of the settings and I got it working, What I did I have no idea, but I'm happy now.
I think the SSID was not enabled but not sure is that was the problem.
Again thanks for the help.
