    Resolved [RESOLVED] error message about conduit / background container windows 7

    working on a laptop right now that was riddled with virus and spyware and outdated drivers ... one pf the first items was when started up after the windows logo 7 appeared and the desktop now materialized there is this double message on the screen .. took a screen shot here to analyze .. Been looking at remedy's and thought maybe our member's here at virtualdr could set me off in the right direction in removing/ fixing this .. Thanks ! see attachment

    Have the PC setup right now with a clean environment and drivers are updated ... problem.jpg

    It was infected with Conduit search malware which seems to have been partially removed but is still being looked for by Windows because it's still in the startup routine.

    You could use Autoruns to see if you can find them.. (use autoruns.exe not autorunsc.exe)

    Do be careful though because this program shows many items that could cause problems if mistakenly removed. Use the uncheck option rather than delete just in case you need to change it back.

    VirtualDr email notices are not working.

    < Thanks .. great program .. unzipped and ran program not are what I am looking for excedpt the words conduit..

    found one .. unclicked .. rebooted and I was sure the problem didn't occur on the first bootup .. but second bootup later revealed the same error message . too bad there isn;t a search function on this spreadsheet .. ?

    It looks like it's there twice. "Conduit" could be one thing to look for but also the path and the backgroundcontainer.dll file (which are both detailed in the error message) further to the right on each line. It may also be automatically highlited in a different color, possibly yellow for easier searching.

    VirtualDr email notices are not working.

    Fixed .. was able to find and navigate to another solution - / that was: Control panel/system security/Administrative tools /<then scrolled down to find and > delete the Background container .. that seemed to do the trick as my restarts now do not display the error..
