Prevention, yes. An easy fix? unlikely. Are you infected with it?

The bleepingcomputer link is certainly the best overall link I've seen about this problem. A must read if you are up for it!
Keep in mind that there are more than one version of this thing out there and that with each new version, the thing is evolving and some (or many) of the characteristics may be radically different than what you see in the bleepingcomputer link.
The infection method is nearly as old as the internet itself. An email attachment. If one refrains from opening unknown/unrequested email attachments, you won't be infected. It's that simple. Always know what you're clicking on before you click!

Hay thanks for the replies!!
Yes,,, I have 3 different people that have this.
I have 2 of the PC's here in my office. (Both Windows 7)
People thought they had all their files backed up (just like MOST people do),, and they lost spreadsheets,,, forms,,, Powerpoint stuff,,, logo's (as JPGs),, etc
I even have one that lost their entire timeclock database.
Thanks to the vender that wrote the program with (I guess) using MS access engine.
Yes,,, of course,, all 6 of the Databases end in *.MDB.
I come here seeing if there will be any hope for all this going forward.
I would guess the perpetrators of this, monitor the boards like this one.
If you have any ideas maybe the moderators in here can get to me (us) privately.
Understandably what has been done is done,,,, we must move forward.
This all is NOT good!
I just had someone send me this,,,, some more reading.
Thanks everyone...
