new to wn 7
HI guys and gals. I have given up on the old dell, thanks for your help. but now i have bought a new pc, with win7 on it. can anyone direct me to a good place to learn how to operate. at the moment my biggest problem is transferring old .dbx files (email folders) from the old pc to the new one. I do know how to do it if its xp to xp. Plz dont tell me its impossible to transfer xp dbx's to window7 .

Since Win 7 no longer uses Outlook express you can use Windows Live Mail which has replaced it.
Here are two methods.. First is to export all the data from Outlook express to a thumb drive and then import it to Windows Live Mail via each programs import/export function..

Or you can copy all the relevant Outlook Express folders from XP directly to a thumb drive and import them to Windows mail this way..

Great site, thank you.. Is there a way to transfer the mail... .dbx files from my wife's old XP pc (the dbx files are on a memory stick) to her new Win 7 pc. PLease send me the info how to do this if possible . thank you

yes i did. was there an option there to transfer dbx files? I know how to transfer them from an xp pc to and xp pc. but from xp to wind 7 .. or 8.1 which i hve on my new pc. I dont have a clue were the dbx files exist on the windows 7 and 8]

They don't exist on 7 or 8. Read my links above. You need to import them with Live Mail.
VirtualDr email notices are not working.

The last version of a Microsoft email program that used those .DBX files was Outlook Express 6.0, which was released more than 12-1/2 years ago.
