    Resolved [RESOLVED] windows 8.1?

I just bought a new computer with Windows 8.0. Can I download Windows 8.1 for free? Also, is this something I SHOULD do? Thanks!

Yes, Win 8.1 is free to those with legitimate installations of Win 8.

After having Windows 8 for nearly a year, I upgraded to 8.1 (for free from the Windows store) and I like all of the improvements. Especially like the additional customization possible to the Start screen. To answer your question about upgrading, yes I would. As an aside, I also installed Windows Media Center on Windows 8 and it never worked a minute for some reason. As soon as I opened the program and tried to play anything it crashed. Since my upgrade to 8.1 it works perfectly and plays videos in most all formats very well. I have also had better compatibility with nVidia display drivers since the upgrade to Win 8.1. I had to use older drivers on my rig or I would get errors using my Internet browser related to the nVidia drivers. Since the upgrade to 8.1 the display driver errors are gone.
