    Resolved [RESOLVED] Microsoft Works Folder

Just installed Win 7 on my computer. Why do I have a folder on my Programs in Windows Explorer called: Microsoft Works? All that is in that folder is .dll files. So why does Microsoft include it in the OS?
Note: My questions may be to help others
    Thanks, JB

I am not asking what to do with it, I am asking why is it there? Matter of fact it is in all computers that I have. Is this folder there for a converting thing or what. I mean this is Windows 7 with not the program so why does MS put it into the software anyhow? They are just .dlls

No version of Microsoft's Windows included Microsoft Works. Because of its low cost however, (as low as $2 OEM), it was sometimes supplied with new computers at the discretion of the computer manufacturer.

Note that in late 2009 Microsoft Works was replaced with MS Office Starter, which is only available pre-installed.

Yea, well I did not mention that there was a version of Works on any computer. I said that there was a folder. Here is a picture of what I am talking about, see picture. I installed Windows two days ago and then MS Office '03 on the computer. Look what is in the Programs list in the pictured attached. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

I do not know why that folder would be there. I don't see it here in XP, 7 or 8.

If you installed Windows AND Microsoft Office, then the Office install would have created that folder.

Looks like it depends on which Version of Office.

Did another install of Windows XP Pro today. Did not find the folder. I put on MS Office and the folder was created in the program files. I suppose it may have something to do with converters maybe. I actually make sure that I install all converters when I do an Office install. This old pc I put Office '03 on it. I don't know if the newer Office products creates these folders.
