What does she do? I only use a laptop, desktop or the phone hanging on the wall. Phone dates from 1959 I believe.

You mean a regular nook, not a Nook Color or a Nook Tablet? You know that Nook Color/Tablet run on Android, right?
Why no Android tablets? Much cheaper than Apple and way more apps than Surface.
Surface is too new. I wouldn't invest in that yet.
iPad 2? I don't see why you would want to get an older model. Unless you mean iPad mini, which has the same guts as an iPad 2.

Nook tablet is what she has
i pad 2 is bigger, still better than the nook tablet, 2 differences ib the processor and display and 100.00 from "2" to retina i pad mini same size as nook tabloet, like to have bigger display
and she doesn't use it much.
what would the androids be in same size as the "2"
haven't shopped them,,
tks

If she has a Nook Tablet, then she probably has Android apps too. Is it just too small?
The iPad2 had a 9.7" screen, so the 10" Android tablets would be comparable in size.
Nexus 10 and Samsung Galaxy Tab 2.0 are a couple. Here are a couple sites to check out:

Go to Android Market and download the FB app. I think the Nook Market should still have access to that. At the very least, you can bookmark the FB site in the browser.
The Galaxy Tab 2 10" is about $350 on Amazon. I didn't do extensive searches, so you might be able to get it cheaper at some place like Costco or Sam's Club.

Same price on eBay
PS - There are thousands of various models of tablets available. 10" are usually somewhere between ~$150 to ~$1,500.

I agree that there are numerous tablet models out there with serous price varieties. You could check the following webpage: http://www.priceangels.com/-t470.html
Personally, I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 and it is a great device (even trying app development for it, like the followings: http://www.voip-sip-sdk.com/p_456-vo...tion-voip.html). Although I am sure that you will find a suitable one.
