[RESOLVED] CANNOT GET OUT OF SAFE MODE
I Had trouble reinstalling Norton 360 and got in a chat
room where the tech took control of my computer.
(big mistake) After a ton of changes he put my
computer into safe mode then lost connection to me.
I am trying to get out of safe mode and cannot find
a way to do it. I made a backup of my computer and
put it on a external hard drive. I would like to restore
to this image. How do I do that and how can I escape
out of safe mode. I am running win 7 prof.

If you used the Windows 7 backup, you cannot restore from Safe Mode.

Options:
Clean install, then restore from backup.
Try the malware removel process, then restore.

Is it possible to get out of safemode in win 7 prof.
when I get a message "if safemode will not close and
regular windows will not start means windows has
something wrong with it." If I can just get regular windows to start I can immediately install my backup
mirror image to restore what I had.

The malware is likely preventing regular mode from working correctly. You are going to have to fix that before you can restore your system image. That means a Repair Install, or malware removal, or a complete reinstall. That is why many of us use a backup image program like Acronis that works from a bootable CD or DVD, in case Windows is so trashed that it won't boot.

If "Safe boot" is selected in MSCONFIG, the computer will continue to boot up in Safe mode until it is deselected.
To deselect it:- Let the computer boot up in Safe mode.
- Press [Ctrl]+[Esc] to open the Start Menu.
- Type in msconfig and press [Enter] to load msconfig.exe.
- Press [Ctrl]+[Tab] to select the Boot tab).
- Press [Alt]+[F] to deselect "Safe boot".
- Press [Alt]+[A] to Apply.
- Press [Enter] to select [OK].
- Press [Alt]+[R] to reboot.
.... And then cross your fingers that it'll now boot up in the normal mode.

I determined once in safemode in win 7 and win 7 has something wrong you cannot
escape it. I bit the bullet and used the manufactures restore disk to put my computer back to original condition. I had several backup images stored in 2 external drives. I restored the backup several time but even tho is shows my files being restored I cannot make the restored image show on my desktop. After the backup is finished I click on the finish button then restart the computer. Nothing on my desktop. HELP What am I doing wrong.

Control+Shift+Esc takes you directly to Task Manager. Click File|New Task (Run). Then type explorer.exe.
Click OK. This should start Windows Explorer and populate your Desktop.
