    Hitachi GST Travelstar 5K160 HTS541680J9SA00 (0A28842) 80GB 5400 RPM 8MB Cache 2.5" SATA 1.5Gb/s Notebook Hard Drive -Bare Drive

The 500 GB drive should work in the Lenovo, but it might be at a slower speed.

Thanks for your help on this. Now its just to decide whether to leave the 500GB where it is on the half "crippled" Sony and use the working Stamina graphic card setting or move the 500GB to the Lenovo.

Just out of curiosity, why might it work at a slower speed if it is moved to the Lenovo ?

If you have SATA 3 or 6 on the Sony, the Lenovo may have only SATA 1.5 speed, since that is what the drive in the Lenovo uses.
