I went to download the ultimate boot cd but when I start what I think is the download, something else is downloading. I can't find the actual download for this software.

I tried to run ultimate boot disk again. This time I clicked on the HDD, after that I highlighted the Hitachi choice since that is the brand name of my disk. After that, it had a list of more options in which I didn't understand what any of them are so I stopped the program and gave up. This is too advanced for me because I do not know what it is they're asking me to choose. I wish there was something else I can do other than install windows again, which seems that something went wrong when I did it last month. I think if I install it again, I will have the same problem as I know everythng went well during the last install. There were no error messages or anything that went wrong, which is just frustrating to me. If anyone has any other suggestions, I would surely try to do them.

Run SFC /SCANNOW. It replaces any missing files and repairs any corrupted ones.
Type CMD in the run box and whack Enter. On the screen that comes up type
    SFC /SCANNOW. There's a space between the C and the /.

That hard drive test you did run said the drive was excellent so chances are your drive is ok. I would really run diagnostics on the memory next. Use your UBCD and run "Windows Memory Diagnostic", there shouldn't be ANY errors. Maybe run one of the others too--sometimes one will catch what the other didn't.

I never ran the harddisk test because I don't know what to choose after picking the Hitachi choice on the first page as I described in #20. I simply do not know how to use the disk.....I am still receiving numerous errors daily in the event viewer. There are application error (IE), kernel-event tracing, customer experience improvement program, dns client events, distributedCOM, kernel PnP, service control manage, event log, security-SPP and print service. These errors seem to be the ones constantly being repeated. Does this tell you anything?

In Post # 8 you ran you ran some kind of Hard Drive test and it reported your drive as "Excellent" which is why I mentioned that your drive is probably ok and suggested Post #23.

A memory test from the UBCD might be worthwhile. There is also memory test software available for Windows.

I tried downloading the memory test software you suggested but when I open the web page and click on the link, I received this message: 404 - File or directory not found.
I did find a memory test on my computer and ran that. It reported that it didn't find anything. I can try the UBCD test from the disk I created but hope that I don't run into decisional problems as I do not know what to choose when they give me a long list of choices. I will try this tomorrow as I am short on time tonight. I found a new entry on the event viewer that occurred about an hour ago and listed 7 times. It is called :schannel". It is described as: The following fatal alert was generated: 40. The eternal error state is 107. What is that suppose to mean?

OK, I ran the memory test on Windows and it said there were no problems found. Today, when I tried to use my printer, it said that there was no printer found. I went to system restore because it worked yesterday and started to restore at a point from yesterday. I went out for a little while and when I returned, it was still on restoring. After about another hour, I shut the computer down and started it up again. I went back to system restore but now it says there are no restore points on this system. I ran my virus protection and there wasn't anything there, then I ran superantispyware and all that was found was a few tracking cookies, nothing else. My system is becoming more unstable every day. I guess I'm in touble.
