I simply reset everything back to Microsoft defaults, then reset my personal preferences.

(Tools > Internet options > Advanced tab > [Restore advanced settings] button > [Reset ...] button > select [x] Delete personal settings > [Reset] button > and then close IE. Next time you open it, flip on whatever Menus/Toolbars you want, set your home page(s), and if you don't like Bing, select a different Search engine).

The lists or diagram you want do not seem to exist for IE9. However here are some lists for older versions of IE. Many are still valid for IE9.

    Question

    THKS

Under privacy, what is best , right now it shows "custom" and then to choose?

Under advanced, what should or should not have a check in it.

One thing that has happened, sometimes if their is a download that was using IE before i set FF as default , i would get the warning your"security levels are set to low" i believe it said, Is that the "high medium" selections for cookies or what causes that error? or under the privacy and wrong setting?

    tks

sorry i just saw your response and haven't studied the links yet

i've got some reading to do, before i started using FF, i had a lot of this taken care of, i'll spend some time soon reading these you provided
    tks
