Installation of an SDD disk on a Toshiba netbook

    Hi,

I have a Toshiba NB305-106 netbook and want to exchange the HDD installed with an SSD disk.

Before doing so, what should I have in mind?

Size, it will have to be a 2,5'' SSD drive and I guess it could be Sata 6, despite this netbook being dated 2010 (it should be backward compatible, right?).

In addition, how do you recommend that I pass all the data from the current HDD (OS: W7 Starter edition) to the new drive? In BIOS, should I change anything or the SSD would be detected automatically? Would a BIOS update be a good idea?

    Tks for your help

Then clone old drive to the new one using it.
Most hdd makers have a tool for doing that.
Acronis is bought and used by many.

Well, I have Acronis True Image. Guess it will do that, right?

What aout the remaining questions? You didn't said anything, so I assume there should be no problem at all. It's just replacing the HDD by the SSD disk and... fingers crossed? )

A direct replacement is all that needs to be done. After the cloning is done.

Note: Never Defrag a SSD. so disable it in Win 7!!!

You really need to do some prep work before you clone it, then after you boot from it, reset/disable some Windows 7 settings.
