    Error 0x800F081F on install SP1

I have a vista in which the former owner did not turn on the Auto update. I now need SP1 installer to install Nortons. Any suggestions. I have been to MS forms with no answers. I have turned on auto update but SP1 was discontinued last year. The machine is a HP Pavilion dv6000. 32bit, AMD Turion 64 x2 tech 2.00 ghz.

Directly from Microsoft: Make sure of your Operating System bit, is it 32bit or 64bit, below is the original page which lists both Sp1 versions:

The one below is for 32bit OS's.

John-the-Teacher--As long as you are installing Vista Service Packs, perhaps you may want to install SP2 after SP1.

    vista Service Pack 1

Thanks for the information, but, I tried the site you gave me and ran the prog. After the prog was loaded and installed, the last item the prog gave me was an error occured, that of the 0x800F081F. There must be something to this error number that I need to dig deeper into. I also had the SP2 but it can not be installed until SP1 is installed. I am sure SP2 will work if I can get SP1 installed.

Photolady. Both links did the same end results. but the above still is the result. thanks
