Converting a PDF file to a WORD file
I have two tables, each with 3 columns that I need to merge into one composite table, Table A is a WORD table. Table B is in PDF. I would prefer the composite to be in WORD but I could live with it in PDF. I have WORD and PDF Reader available.
I don’t see how to merge the Tables A and B. I would appreciate any suggestions (or a confirmation from a more savvy user that it can’t be done).
I understand that Adobe sells an app that will convert a PDF table to WORD. Is there a free app that can do that? Is there a place on the web that will do the conversion for me, for free or for a charge?
Thanks for your advice.

Before trying the complicated stuff, see if the simple stuff works first. Select the table in the PDF reader, copy it, and then try pasting it into Word. Sometimes that is all it takes

Thank you both. I really appreciate your help. I am exploring several options including a fee-based conversion service by Adobe (only $20/year). I'll also look into the free service dneilson suggested.
As to SuperSparks' suggestion -- I find that the WORD file I get after doing a Ctrl-C and Ctrl-V operation on the PDF file is gibberish. The file shows no columns at all; but it contains many but not all of the words in the PDF file. Something is going on there. I will keep experimenting.

How big are the pdfs? Do you have Gmail/Google Docs?

Midknight: Interesting. Thanks. Do you know if there is a comparable way to go from PDF to WORD?
My files are large -- 150 pages of text.
This may be a crucial factor: My PDF file will be created by scanning some hundred pages of hard copy. I have scanned one page and find that:
a. The scanned document looks like the hardcopy but I find I cannot highlight individual blocks of text. It may just be a picture of the hardcopy; and
b. Yet the Find function seems to recognize words --- but only words appearing in one of the three columns.
All quite puzzling to me.

In order to scan to editable text with your hp1050 scanner, you need something like OmniPage.
