Unhappy HP scanner's glass is broken

I have tried HP. They say they don't replace the broken glass. Does anyone know what I could do to fix this?

I'd hate to have to replace the whole thing. Too expensive at this point.

Last piece of glass I bought for a friend's garage window here in south Florida was $8.65, including tax. Size was close to 19 x 32.

They usually don't replace scanner glass beause a new scanner is cheaper. The glass is not your ordinary window glass, although you could try using that. Chances are the results will not be as good as the original glass though.

You may be able to get the real thing here:

Alternatively, a decent glass merchant ought to stock something that would be suitable. From what I can find out there isn't anything particularly special about scanner glass. I've seen it suggested that it is standard 1/8" plate glass.
