[RESOLVED] USB MOUSE MESSED UP
Some how i screwed up the settings on the usb mouse. I can not highlight items to drop and drag, they open when i click on them even using the control button. When i try to highlight text to copy, after i highlight it dragging across it won't hold,
I have adjusted speeds, but do not seem to find what i did wrong?
suggestions?
I disconnected it last night after i shut down , no difference on reboot today
When i click on the end of a sentence it highlights the last word
if i click under neath words it will highlight them
: when i clicked on the confused button it did 2 of them
vista 32 b hp
tks

Try using Windows' "System Restore" to roll Windows back to a state before the problem started:System Restore helps you restore your computer's system files to an earlier point in time. It's a way to undo system changes to your computer without affecting your personal files, such as e-mail, documents, or photos.

Or try uninstalling and re-installing the mouse drivers.

Did you try "System Restore"?
Just had to do one here on a Windows 7 computer and it took maybe two minutes.

Try a different mouse if you have one. Also, check ALL of the settings for the Mouse on Control Panel, and the Accessibility settings also.

If your spare mouse is a USB type, just plug it in and see what happens when you try to use it. Just use the standard Windows drivers for it.
If you want to change one connected to the PS/2 (round) socket, you should shut down the computer first. Those should not be unplugged or plugged in when the computer is powered up.

You can usually get away with unplugging and plugging in a PS/2 mouse with the computer powered up, but sometimes it can fry the PS/2 port, so it is recommended to make sure the computer is powered off when plugging/unplugging a PS/2 mouse or keyboard.

If you're going to get a new mouse, get a USB one. They are a lot less hassle all round
