[RESOLVED] Orphaned Files
Turned my win 7 machine on today and was immediately greeted with a "DOS" screen running chkdsk on the C: drive for orphaned files. Spooky. I have never seen anything like that before. Rebooted and same thing was running with the message "One of your disks(I only have one) needs checking for consistency. Never did anything and I haven't had any problems since and computer is running just fine. Any input will be appreciated and as unusual, TIA.
Just remembered. I had to delete intelipoint, download and install again.

Scary when that happens, Something got balled up and like you did, let windows repair itself. Seen that 3 x in XP, once in Vista and have yet to see it in Win 7. Have no idea what got messed up.
Read the chkdsk report.

Thanks Train. I didn't really learn anything but then there apparently isn't much to learn about this. Since I haven't seen anything more, I'll try to forget it.

If Windows is shutdown incorrectly it will often run CHKDSK on bootup to check and attempt to repair any file system damage.

It only takes a bit to get flipped and cause an incorrect checksum somewhere to make that happen. There are a million reasons why that can happen, and as long as it only occurs once in a blue moon it is nothing to be concerned about.

Words of comfort. Thanks Doc but I did not shut down my computer incorrectly. Well, as far as I can remember but it has not happened again!!
Thanks to you also Nick. I think I can acccept your reply and if I ever get that event again, I will be back with my deeper concern.
