    Ye gads indeed!!! I made a shortcut......shutdown.exe /s.....works for me.

    The shortcut I described works. What will the one you suggest do that mine doesn't? I may change mine.

    Windows 8 is basically designed for mobile devices only, and most mobile devices cannot be turned completely off, so there is no need for an easy to access shutdown command. Thanks for the info on this.

    -s Shutdown the computer

    -t xx Set timeout for shutdown to xx seconds

    -f Forces running applications to close without warning

    This worked great on the kids.

    Do not know if it will work with Win 7 as I have not tried it.
