    Windows Installer:

Windows Installer pops up when on web pages. Not all, just some. Some more than others.
Some times I think it won't quit.
It's been going on for months. It's pretty annoying. I try to get things done and there it is in my way and have to "cancel, cancel, cancel."

Is there anything I can do that doesn't take me into the scarry tactics of trying to do this and then do that?

    Thank you,
    Gr8gramie

This link is for the same popup and Office 2007, but many of the same things apply. Check them out, see if any of them help, and let us know what happens. The Installer Cleanup Utility and the starting Internet Explorer with no add-ons should definitely be tried.

    Jdc2000,
    Hi,
I read that the Installer Cleanup Utility, would delete Windows Installer.
If I do that, how would I reinstall the Windows Installer?

Yes. . . I do know that you know what you are talking about, but just like going to the doctor, I question him too. LOL

I will download the Installer Cleanup Utility and give it a try.
I checked my add on's on IE8. There are some. I try to run with as few as possible because I do not have the patience to wait for the browser to come on when I have a lot of the goodies on it.
What about the protection on the browser. Disable that too? Eeewww ~~~ Okay. (giggles)

    (XP 32. . . sp3. . . HM ver 2002)

    Thank you,
    Gr8gramie

    Thumbs up Windows Installer:

    Hi Train,
    Yep. . . I think.
Earlier I was supposed to do something but a lot of the kids came over and got pretty b z.

Recv'd your msg and did the download and install.
Seems to B working. Went to a lot of the sites to try it out which is usually kids clothing and it did not pop up once.

Hope it keeps working like this.

    Thank you so much.

    Windows Installer still there.

    Hi again,
Thought that the windows installer was history but not.
    Especially when reading newspapers.
It is so very frustrating! Click. . . click. . . click. I keep clicking it off and it takes a while to leave each time.
One evening I had to turn the power off in order to get out of the loop.

    My old computer:
Windows XP Sp3 Hm edition 32 bit.

Any other thing I can do?

    Thank you

    Windows Installer:

    Hi Train,
You asked, "Been 2 yrs since the last clean install?"

    I do not understand.

With XP, I found that I, and several others here at vdr, had to do a clean install of the OS every 2 years to keep it running the way I wanted it to. So. if it has been longer than 2 years, you might want to go that route.

    HI Train,
Well. . . I searched and found out what a clean install is. Whew! That's scary for me to try. I'll have to wait until one of the grandkids comes up and try to talk one of them into doing that for me.
As it is they think I'm silly for even using a computer tower, etc.. Get a laptop they say.
With what I say. I like my stuff. LOL.

Thank you so much, Train. You've helped a heck of a lot.

I have a laptop, but as I bought a 23 inch monitor to help me see what is on it. Yep sure helped even with glasses.

Yep play the almost blind gag on my G-kids and it works. But guess who gets asked to repair their rigs. LOL!!!
