Gateway Netbook
Gateway netbook TL 20
The Intel chipset drivers from Gateway and Intel will install and upon reboot, the only option that will work is Last good startup which of coarse wipes out the install.
This is a clean install of XP Pro [M$ retail CD] with all Service Packs. It did have home, but because of a rootkit, had to low level the drive and do a clean install.

If you have a non-slipstreamed XP CD handy, you could try installing that, then the drivers, then SP3. Otherwise, and unattended install CD might work, though it's a royal pain to have to make one

Weird. I'm guessing you already ran hardware diags.
Did you try disabling devices in the bios like USB?

Yes, ran the WD diags in full and all was well.
Set the bios to IDE and the install ran fine.
Missing per Device manager:
Network Controller
Qualcomm HS-USB
SM Bus controller
Manufactor date : 2009
If someone could link me to older Intel drivers, I will try them.

It's a 945GSE chipset. Which driver set did you use? The latest one I see is 9.3.0.1019
