    windows live mail weird problem

    My friends Windows 7 with firefox browser has a weird problem with his email.. ie. Live Mail ( the old outlook express ) ..

    When you open up a new email and go to type in either the browser bar for adding in the address line (i.e. someone@mail.com ) the @ changes to a " .


    when you try and type in the message box of the same email and type in the @ it also changes to a " .
    BUT if I use either notepad or word the @ is typed as it should be a @ .. Therefore I know it is not the keyboard .. WHAT could be causing this= Shift 2 for @ to be displayed as this= " ??????????

    He therefore can't add anyone's email address .....

    Does this happen when he tries to type an e-mail address in any other application? If yes, then I am thinking possible malware.

    as far as I know only for for windows live not google mail or outlook..

    UK keyboards have the double quote above the 2, and the @ above the apostophe. If the keyboard is working normally in other applications, you will need to look in Live Mail and see if there is a setting which has changed the regional settings to UK English. I don't know where it might be, I don't use Live Mail.
