Why aren't Works 9 and Windows 7 compatible
Have a client, who has Windows 7 and wants Works 9. Has a lot of files created in Windows 9, and wants to know if Win7 will read it. My guess is no, because Works 9 was created for XP and Vista.
Does anyone know why Win 7 won't read Works 9?

According to Microsoft, Works 9 system requirements state:
Windows XP Professional 64-bit Edition with Service Pack (SP) 1; Windows XP 32-bit Edition with SP2; or Windows Vista or later operating system
So it should work with Windows 7 also.

BTW, I searched the MS site too and looked at the answers, and it seems to be a question that shows up often about the compatibility.

There is no such thing as overkill. 'Open fire' and 'is it dead?' are the only sane options when threatened.

I assumed when it said later operating systems, it meant Windows 7 as that is only "later" operating system out right now. And it seems General Winters link says the same thing.
Are you sure she knows how to install the software?

I would be surprised if it wouldn't install OK using Compatibility Mode. If she already has Works 9, there is nothing to be lost by trying it:
Make older programs run in this version of Windows
Use Compatibility Mode in Windows 7
