Resolved [RESOLVED] Acer lcd monitor lost colors .. card or screen??

I was working away on my XP PC when the monitor ..kinda.. flickered .,and I noticed my colors were out of whack .. kinda like what safemode colors look like ..
So I reinstalled the Drivers both from my CD and from the website base (Nivida Gforce 6100) that didn't work .. So I unpluggged and replugged the cord .. that didn't work .. I used windows recovery from this mornings backup .. that didn't work.. Is it my video card or the monitor itself ( Acer V173 / 3 years old) ..

The windows logo start up from reboot- I have good colors and the desktop icons look good.. but it is the images or .jpgs or wallpaper that is tooo bright and more red than normal ..
any suggestions besides to uplug the monitor nad plug it into my HP windows 7 laptop for comparisons..?

Sounds like the color/resolution settings are messed up. What settings are you using?

any suggestions besides to uplug the monitor nad plug it into my HP windows 7 laptop for comparisons..?
So what happens when you do that?

Do you have a spare monitor to test with?

Using the controls on your monitor, try resetting it to factory defaults. (Look for something like an "Auto-Adjust" function).

If that doesn't do the trick, try changing the monitor cable - cable faults can cause some weird problems, including this one.

OK thanks all for your replys .. So I hooked up the monitor with the same cable to my laptop and it was perfect meaning apart from my numerous video drivers I believe the on board video card is gone .. So I am going to go with a seperate video card into one of my spare slots ...

    Thanks
