Auto-start for cd's dvd's usb ?
I had to reinstall Windows after I got my machine back from where I had bought it from (a few problems - new motherboard in) now with a new graphics card in too, a few things Win 7 is NOT doing as it did before.
One of them is it's not auto-loading when a dvd or usb stick is put in, so i have to go into Windows Explorer to get in. No great drama, of course, but still - how can i get it to auto-load ? Just to come up as E:/ whatever so i can open folder ?

Auto-load/play is extremely dangerous.
You can simply press [Winkey]+[E] to load Windows Explorer.

It is dangerous because any malware that gets onto a device like a USB stick will auto execute as soon as it is put into the computer It is one of the major methods of spreading malware, and is always one of the first things that I disable when I install Windows. I've been using Winkey+E for years, and itb is just as easy once you get into the habit.
Nick.

Go to Control Panel\Hardware and Sound\AutoPlay.
if it is already on, then turn it off...then back on.
Kevin
I read your e-mail
To err is human, but to really foul things up requires a computer.

Phil: Here is one of the best examples why autoplay (and autorun which isn't quite the same but still very similar) can be disastrous. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sony_BM...ootkit_scandal
