    Downloading problem

    I have a problem here. I'm using Windows 7 and IE8.

Yesterday I unfortunately made an error and now IE automatically downloads zipfiles without asking me first what I want to do.

The annoying thing is that once the download is finished Windows automatically opens the zip file.

How can I change that back to how it was?

Use Windows' "System Restore" to roll Windows back to a previous state when your computer was functioning correctly:

Crap. That has been quite some time ago. No other possibility?

I think he means the last restore point was some time ago.

VirtualDr email notices are not working.

Last restore point was about 6 weeks ago.

What if I wait for IE9? Will the problem be solved once I install the new version?

If all else fails, you can try an IE Reset. No guarantees it will solve this particular issue but if it's an IE issue, it's got a good chance. If you have any customized settings, it will blast them but I have found doing a reset has fixed some odd problems for me.

You can find it when running IE under Tools | Internet Options | Advanced (tab) at the bottom of the page. Again, remember that it sets everything back to the way it was (settings-wise) when you first ran IE.
