so i have been running windows 7 on my compaq presario sr1838nx for awhile now great well last night i formatted and now i cant get my aero back something to do with the driver tryed all kinds but it allways reverts back to the basic vga driver my computer has built in graphics ati radeon 200 xpress downloaded drivers and doesnt seem to want to work at all?
You didn't say 32 or 64-bit Win7. That makes a difference. You also failed to mention that system shipped with XP Media Center, not Win7.
Did you download the drivers from AMD/ATI directly? According to their site, Win7 is not officially supported on the Xpress 200, but you can try the Vista drivers.
Note: AMD’s DirectX 9 ATI Radeon graphics accelerators are not officially supported under Windows 7. If the user chooses to, they can install the ATI Catalyst Windows Vista graphics driver under Windows 7. Please be aware that none of the new Windows 7 graphics driver (WDDM 1.1) features are supported (as the Windows Vista level graphics driver is limited to WDDM 1.0 level support). Using the ATI Catalyst Windows Vista driver under Windows 7 is not officially supported by AMD, and as such AMD will not provide any form of customer support for users running in this configuration
32 bit but when i upgraded to win 7 i download the standard xp drivers and it was doin the trick but now like 5 months later nope
yea i did dl from amd/ati directly i heard of other people useing drivers for different graphics cards as i tryed but with no luck i think my main problem is when i uninstall the graphics driver u need to restart to finish but once the computer boots up it automatically gets the driver even if i unplug the ethernet cord
What driver are you uninstalling? Just run the ATI installer. There will probably be a warning about the driver not be WHQL or something, but you need to override that.
