    Wifi problems with Win 7

I got a brand new machine with win 7 64 bit. I live in an RV park and rely on their wifi for internet. This week I bought a wireless router called Wifi Ranger. It works beautifully
on my old XP desktop and my Vista laptop. the PCI wi fi adaptor in the XP machine didn't transfer to the Win 7 machine. Drivers out of date, etc. So i bought an Asus USB N-13 adaptor. It didn't detect any networks, and the wizard hung up so I couldn't get anywhere with installation. then I thought about connecting the Wi Fi Ranger via its LAN cable. Sure enough, I got online but I'm still not seeing the park's networks or the Ranger. I'm trying to bring up the control panel on the Ranger but it's not loading. I'm confused! I'll bet you are too by this post. When I've tried to manually install the Ranger's SSID and key, i get a dialogue saying
"an error has been encountered". this prevents me from installing the wi fi Ranger router
and putting the park's wi fi networks through the Ranger. As for the Asus USB adaptor....

The obvious question first - did you install any drivers for the USB adapter?

Normally you access a router's config scree through a web browser - is this what you are attempting? Do it via a cable and not wireless.

Yes, I installed drivers first. And I've been attempting to get to the router through the
browser, but haven't had any luck. Going to try again this morning. I observe that the drivers for this supposedly Win 7-compatible product were made in 2007 and not modified,
whatever that may indicate. The install software doesn't work, it doesn't see the adapter.
Perhaps I haven't made it visible to the computer in some way.

    thanks

The latest Win 7 64 bit driver is from 2009. You might try downloading that and the utility software and manual from the ASUS web site.

Connect using a wired connection for this and the router setup.

You can access most routers with one of the following:

    http://192.168.0.1

    http://192.168.1.1

    http://10.0.0.1

    wifi and win 7

I returned the Asus wifi adapter. I paid a shocking price for it when if I'd been more patient I could have found any number of adapters for 20 bucks. I dnl'd the supposed Win 7 driver for my old Ralink T61 turbo PCI adapter, but though it's seen by the computer, it won't enable.
Otherwise, I've had few difficulties getting Win7 to install my programs.
