[RESOLVED] ITunes problems with missing dll files
This is on my wife's Compaq computer that is exactly like mine.
Version 9.2.1.4 of iTunes and can't get past the webkit.dll missing and apple versions.dll I have deleted iTunes and re-installed it several times and booting/rebooting but I still cannot get past that stinking error 7, I use Windows Home Premium 64 bit. I don't think Apple could try any harder to cause it's users to have so much trouble--at times. As usual, TIA.

I had tried those various steps before I began my thread but did no good. She has netframework 4 installed already--was probably auto installed through Windows Updates. Wish I could report a good result. Apple Itunes can be a tough piece of of of of software to deal with, I think.

Guess this is not unusual but I continued searching for an answer as to why itunes would not install for wife because of the webkit.dll missing and error 7. Didn't meet with success but I did find this on Google: http://discussions.virtualdr.com/sho...d.php?t=245641
As an experiment, I created a Restore Point on my machine, downloaded and installed itunes without a problem, rejected some of the defaults offered and accepted others, saw the results and everything looked just fine---from what little I know about itunes. Doesn't this tell me that the problem is NOT with itunes but instead the problem is with her machine?? What may be the remedy for her problem?

I'd say that considering the constant problems and complaints seen with itunes the problem is with them and not the end user.
VirtualDr email notices are not working.
Check back regularly for responses.

Thanks fink. Any other app that can play her volumes of saved songs? Is it easily possible for her to creat a play list of some sort and play her songs on WMP?

VLC media player should do the trick nicely. Since it plays the AAC or M4P audio formats.

You stole my thoughts. I was gonna mention trying to play them with VLC. I have not told her to try it because she probably never heard of VLC!!! And I don't wanna mess with [B]that[B] now.

Of course, I was only going to have her to try VLC. I have used it before and liked it ok but I kept coming back to WMP. I have her playing her music now with VLC but I suspect she will go back to WMP.

Maybe try K-lite codec pack.
Just make sure AAC and Mpeg$ is installed too.
I think I remember it being there anyway.

If VLC is too spartan, you could try Media Player Classic HC.

Problems totally solved. I had the idea to put the iTunes download that I had put on my computer onto a thumb drive and try to install it on her machine. First thing I did was remove all parts of her defunct iTunes software, rebooted and installed the program from my thumb drive and then installed her itunes I had saved and bingo, she now has iTunes fully functional; just like nothing ever happened. Mission complete--she is happy and I have peace.
Thanks for your help and BTW, I left WMP as her default player.
