Fresh install of XP, what's the latest protection?
My friend's PC was infected with a Virus (or at least that's what he told me) so he asked if I would install a larger HDD and just do a Fresh XP install.
I installed a new 500gb HDD and Slipstreamed XP last nite. Tonight I'll install the updates and some other configurations for him.
What software protection (free) can I load for him?
I was planning on:
- Avast!
- Comodo (firewall only)
- SpyBlaster
- SuperAntiSpyware
- CCleaner
anything else?
WinXP/98 dualboot - P4 2.4b 533FSB
Asus P4PE/L MoBo
512MB Corsair DDR PC2700
HDD1 - 160gig Seagate HDD2 - 60gig Maxtor
Antec SOHO File Server w/400 watt PSU

I prefer Free Avira for a AV program.
Malwarebytes instead of Spyblaster and Super.

I agree, it's probably the best of the freebie bunch, and uses very few resources. I use it on pretty well all of my virtual machines, and I have no real complaints
Nick.
