    Print PDF file

I have a 45 page PDF file to print. My printer allows front-and-back printing, and I know how to set it. However, the last time I tried to print a PDF file that said it had 20 pages I got more pages than that and they did not match with the page numbers. What settings do I use so that I can print one page of file to one page of paper, letter size? If I can do that in the PDF program, the printer will take care of the duplex part of it. Adobe Reader 8 is my program. Thanks for suggestions.

The options to use may depend on what printer you are printing to. However, if you look for something like "fit to page size" or something similar, or if you click Advanced on the printing preferences for the printer, and change the scaling to something less than 100%, that should work. You may have to experiment with printing just two pages (duplex) to find the correct settings.

Jerry38018--My HP printer does not have duplexing capability. To print on both sides, I go into Preferences (on the first window to show when I click File|Print) and then under "Print two sides" set it up to do so "Manually". The printer then prints all even numbered pages and I must turn the batch over to print all odd number pages.
However, as jdc2000 has mentioned are you not getting one page of the PDF file to print on one page of paper? Then click File|Print Preview and one of the boxes (with dropdown arrow) in the toolbar should allow you a "Shrink to Fit" option.

Thanks for the replies. The time when printing did not go well and the pages came out differently in print than the number on the pages was when I had an HP printer without duplex printing. I tried the manual thing, assuming they would come out correctly, but then I got through I had an awful mess. This time the printer is a Canon with duplex service. I think the "print to size" button, or whatever the name is, is the way to go. This was a document is one that was originally was in some journal from Harvard, so the page size is smaller than letter size. I did "print to size," duplexed it and it worked well. Thanks for the assistance.
