Replacing Motherboard - reinstall Win7?
My friend's HP desktop (just more than 1yr, warranty expired) mobo is dead. I'm helping him to replace the mobo with a ASUS (different from the original in model and brand name) one. He doesn't want to re-install the Win7 64-bit as he has so many programs installed.
Searching with Goggle, I get different opinions: some say just put the mobo in and Win7 will do the driver installation transparently, some say a clean installation is required.
What is the actual steps and is a re-installation required? Thanks for your advice.

Moderator, please delete this post as it's Win Vista Home Premium x64 not Win 7. I'll post another thread in Win Vista. Thanks.
