sata1,2 and 3 , question
Windows XP Pro.
Before I go to my local computer store next weekend for my new board could any one tell me will a sata hard drive work in a sata2 or 3 connection.
The board I have now has 4 sata connections and 2 sata2 connections and I have tried my sata hard drives in the sata 2 connections and found that they would not be detected.
Will it work the other way around.
Thanks in advance.

SATA 2 is fully backwards compatible, so your drives should be detected. What has most likely happened there, is that the SATA2 ports are on a separate controller on the mobo, which has been disabled in the BIOS. If you go in and enable it, then it should detect your drives.
Nick.
