Resolved [RESOLVED] System Restore says it cannot fix problem. Computer not starting

    Hello

I have been having a problem for a while now and am just getting around to ask for help. My Computer is an HP and I am running Windows 7. I do have DSL.

If I shut my computer down it cannot restart normally. It always goes to system restore. Lately it hasn't been able to fix the problem. I just keep trying until it finally works. This problem was happening before I loaded Windows 7. I had Windows Vista and it was doing it then too. I just loaded Windows 7 around the 1st of January.

I did ask to see the report and here is what it said.

I appreciate any and all help. If I have posted this in the wrong forum I am sorry.

    Thank you Kim

    Kimmie!--Welcome to VDr.
Since you had the problem some time ago and before you installed Win7, you could do what is suggested here
    http://www.vistaheads.com/forums/mic...rting-one.html
However, that would take some time.
So perhaps try this to narrow down the cause.
Look into Event Viewer (Start|Administrative Tools|Event Viewer). Click on "System" in the left panel. Do you see RedBall error icon(s) timestamped at the exact time the problem occurred? If so, click on the RedBall. The first message will have some data on what the problem is, but usually it is not too easy to understand. Click the blue go.microsoft.com link. On the next window click the link to send a report to Microsoft. Another window should open (though it may take some time for the information in the right panel to appear) which may offer some more understandable info and maybe even a solution.

In the Event Viewer I saw a RedBall Error icon and clicked on it and sent it to microsoft, but the window that opened said "No results found". I am going to look into the link that you sent me also.

The problem did occur before Windows 7 but has increased after loading Windows 7.

Thank you for you time in trying to help me solve my computer issues.

In the Event Viewer I saw a RedBall Error icon
. Was that RedBall timestamped when the subject problem occurred?

First, I am sorry that I didn't reply to the post.

I looked for a time stamp and did not see one.

I felt ok leaving it alone because it always came on, but now I am up the creek.

The electric went out today and of course the computer was rebooted. It will not start windows at all.

I have restored it a couple times and that went through twice but it still will not start windows.

It says windows cannot repair this computer automatically.

Can anyone help me with this problem.

    Thank you

I can get to dos and I can get to regedit. I don't know how to fix this problem. Windows will not load at all.

    Thanks for any help.

    ok, it is now fixed.

    I just reloaded windows 7.

I will be more careful with the updates that I allow windows to download.

    Thank you..
