I just put in a new hard drive but when i start up it says...

Warning : Windows has detected a registry/configuration error
Choose, Command prompt only, and run SCANREG

Im using Win98. It wont let me go to safe mode either.
Can someone give me some help please?

Is the new hard drive in addition to the Windows drive, or did you do anything like copying n image of Win98 over from the old drive?

What happens when you run the SCANREG command? You can boot to a Command Prompt Only, and then type SCANREG and press Enter. Or, you can restore back to a previous good registry copy by entering SCANREG /RESTORE and selecting a date when all was working well.

No space is needed,i always enter "scanreg/restore" which works fine

    Welcome to VDR my friend

Try turning your computer on and hold F8 until a menu comes on,then select option 5 (Command prompt) then enter scanreg @ the C prompt..

    Good luck
