Uninstalling an app... I deleted a system file

    Hi at all,
last days I uninstalled many old applications.
One of them ask me to delete a system file and I answered yes .
I dont remember the name of system file (application was a webcam surveillance?).

Now windows XP start normally like all applications but Microsoft applications make error (live messanger and MSIE).
What can I do to check the name of deleted file and reinstall it without reinstall all Windows XP dile system?

Best regards and thank you very much
    Sara

Insert your XP CD into the drive. Click on Start / run and type:

    sfc /scannow

A progression bar will appear for ~15 minutes. Reboot when complete. Post back if this has resolved the issue.

    Nothing to do

Since it is a MSN file or used by MSN and MSIE I thought to uninstall msn live and to install it newly

First time I tried this way but MSN Installer tell me that MSN is already installed and It does 'nt want to reinstall it

    Try to repair it instead:

On the taskbar, click Start, click Control Panel, and then double-click Add or Remove Programs. Under Currently installed programs, click MSN Messenger, and then click Change. Click Repair.

See if that will fix it.

MSN is probably gone and MSN Messenger is still running.

You can stop it in msconfig.
